Anthropic Art - Molly Willson Perry
Molly Willson Perry, an Alaskan artist, combines the disciplines of Art and Anthropology to create unique works of art. Molly Willson Perry's Anthropic Art collection features porcelain jewelry and wall art that is sculpturally formed, unique and archaically modern. She coined the phrase, “Anthropic Mobile Art,” to describe her pieces. “Anthropic Mobile Art,” has to do with man’s experience on earth; art that travels with the person, art that expresses the owner’s individuality. In ancient times humans created small ritualistic pieces of art and carried the pieces with them as they migrated. These pieces were utilitarian in nature and were symbolic and indicative of the environmental influences in which the person lived.
Molly’s high fire, hand-formed porcelain pieces are similar to the ancient, “Mobile Art,” pieces; they too are meant to express individual uniqueness.
